Festival 1.96 for Fedora 7 (and earlier Fedora Core):

Currently, these packages are in progress and not suitable for general use.

The versions which were here previously are now in Fedora 7 Test 3, and contain the following improvements:

• Updated to the 1.96 beta release.
• Split into several subpackages, allowing for a 4.7M minimal install (down from 24M).
• libFestival built as shared library.
• Libraries linked correctly.
• Devel packages which make sense (and may actually work).
• Multi-arch collisions fixed.
• Two new HTS voices.
• HTS voices fixed so they work with gnome-speech. (This is a big deal, since they are both smaller and nicer than the older diphone voices.)
• Put site config files into /etc/festival.
• Builds without -fpermissive.
• Other package cleanup.
• Other bugfixes.

The source rpm should now rebuild cleanly on Fedora Core 6 and earlier (back to at least FC3, but please upgrade if you're running an unsupported FC version!) and on RHEL 4 and RHEL 5.
