This directory once contained hdparm 3.9 patched to support Daniel Smith's Power Booster stuff from http://alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/powerbooster/. The patch is now included in the official hdparm package (as of 4.1), so that's no longer necessary (or really useful) to have here.

However, if you want, you can use the apmcontinue script above. This works with Red Hat Linux and similar distributions -- just drop it into /etc/sysconfig/apm-scripts/ (and chmod +x), and your HD will be put into an appropriate mode as your laptop goes on or off battery power.
